Blessed Trinity College Opens its Holy Gates
On 13-14th of January, many children and parents came to see Blessed Trinity College’s Open Night where they experienced performances, puzzles, games and displays that dazzled them with their effort and talent.
In the History Department, many people were shown wartime memorabilia such as: guns, suits, and ammunition that was all organised by Mrs. McGarvey to fascinate and quench the thirst of those who looked upon them. Mrs. McGarvey stated it was, “History brought to life”. Current and prospective were stunned by holding and even feeling the weight of a gun and by the stories told by adults.
Down in the science labs, prospective students were allowed to be mad scientists for the night, through dissecting the organs of animals while exploring the wonders of the lab class. As tours wandered the hallways of BTC they enjoyed listening to the wonderful songs Hannah Slizewska played on her trusty flute.
Meanwhile upstairs in the Art department Mrs Murray and Mr McGuire presented a beautiful ceramic pumpkin patch, which were crafted and painted by the dutiful students of the school, then fired by the hard working art technician Gary.
Overall, Open Night ended with parents satisfied and amazed by the school and their children, desiring more and more from the blessed place that is our school.
The range of exhibitions and activities that took place was an impressive display of staff and student dedication. It put on show the varied and creative active learning opportunities that prospective students can expect, should they attend BTC.
Ms Mallon, Head of Year 12 said, “I love open night because you really get to step back and almost see an outsider's view of all of the incredible work that goes on in here; the amazing accomplishments of our students and it makes me feel so proud to be part of BTC. It reminds me what an amazing community we have here. I really enjoy it.” This is a sentiment that was shared by staff, parents, current and prospective students alike.
