Next on the News - The Trinity Times Returns September 2026
On 4th June 2026, members of The Trinity Times team gather to reflect on their achievements and experiences of the Blessed Trinity College newspaper.
Haven Nelson - Year 10 - Junior Correspondent
I enjoy writing and I've really enjoyed hearing about everyone's ideas. I was very impressed with the very first article that was published, Excellent Excerpts from Open Night, written by Aine. I felt like it was a great introduction for the newspaper and it set the bar for the rest of the team. I feel like I've gained more confidence and the ability to speak in front of the team more.
Next year, I would like the newspaper to cover the smaller day to day events that effect the students more, because I feel like it's more the main things that get close attention.
Chinmay Sankar - Year 11 - Junior Correspondent - Image Content Creator
I joined the newspaper for the opportunity. It has been really fun and a bunch of my friends of here. I get to work with computers, which I'm good at and I enjoy, so... nice. A highlight so far, for me, was having my article published. It was a big confidence boost to see that I could do that.
I found my English Language GCSE a lot easier since joining the newspaper. I felt like I got used to using the techniques in writing more. I still find interviewing a bit intimidating, though.
One skill that I want to work on is to master Canva - I have had the opportunity to experiment with image creation which has been great. I also want to continue to improve my writing skills.
Aine McConville - Year 11 - Junior Assistant Editor
The newspaper is a way to experience what a job feels like, in the Journalism industry. I feel like I've learned how to work with people more, and how to organise different operations at once. I found being a Junior Editor nerve-wracking - that people look to me to help. But I am working on growing my confidence. I feel that the newspaper has impacted the school community positively, as it gives students the ability to see how each other feel about different things, like the GCSE exams.
In the future, I would like the newspaper to investigate specific subjects, see how students feel about them, and how students feel certain subjects would translate into the real world.
Lucy Fitzsimmons Weir - Year 11 - Junior Correspondent
My favourite article this year, was the article about the new Dungeons and Dragons (DnD) group, Routine Collides with Roleplay. I'm proud of it because it was about a group that I founded, advertised by word-of-mouth only.
A skill l've improved has been spelling - I really struggled with it, but practice through writing articles really helped. The Senior Editors, Abi and Anamika have been such a big help to me, because they help to guide my writing and suggest ways to improve.
Next year, I would like to include more articles about the Team Trinity clubs - a lot of them don't get enough attention that could be highlighted here.
Abby Warnock - Year 11 - Junior Correspondent
I wanted to join the newspaper because it seemed very interesting and fun. I wanted to participate in something, this year. I really enjoy when we all get together after school and work as a team to produce something. I am most proud of becoming more confident in myself and speaking more. If I were to go back in time and see myself when I started with the newspaper, I would tell myself, "speak up about your experiences, and talk about the events I see at school can entertain people."
Abi Shibu Matthew - Year 13 - Senior Correspondent - Lead Digital Media Editor
I've always had a passion for writing and Journalism, ever since I was young. I knew it wasn't something that I was going to pursue as an adult, but this provided me with the perfect opportunity to try it now. I am very proud of the Digital Media aspect of the newspaper - I have been able to film and edit videos and interviews. I am very proud of my title as Lead Digital Media Editor.
I really think that there has been a significant change in my ability to edit videos. I got more opportunities to film, generate ideas, and edit, which allowed me to improve.
In my final year of BTC, I want to help the current students on the team to grow their abilities. I believe that everyone has a talent for writing, but not many people unleash it. I wish the Trinity Times team the best of luck, and hope that it will continue to grow.
Anamika Johny - Year 13 - Senior Assistant Editor
I think journalism is really cool - I always enjoyed how school newspaper groups were portrayed in the media. I don't really do subjects related to English at A Level, so this has given me the opportunity to keep working on my writing skills. At the start, I felt like it was a challenge to interview and then write an article - I had never really done that. Also, editing other people's work felt intimidating. I feel like I've gotten more used to this process now.
I would love to complete a piece on the 10th anniversary of BTC. It's a big milestone for our school. I also want to cover big performances as well.
I hope more people join The Trinity Times. This is our first year and it would be great to see it grow, and allow us to cover more. There aren't really clubs that focus on what we do, here.
A note from the staff facilitator - "It has been a pleasure and an honour to work with The Trinity Times team. This group of students are inquisitive and passionate, persistent and dedicated. It has been incredible to see the work they have been able to produce. I was in awe when Abigail introduced the Digital Media aspect of the newspaper, and I look forward to seeing what other ideas the team, both old members and new, will come up with next."
